So part of me feels bad for this. I’m sure Ted Kennedy did a great deal for this country. I respect him and his family for their service and patriotism. JFK is one of my favorite historical figures of all time…he took us to the moon (but even he cheated on his wife with Marilyn Monroe).
But come on…Ted Kennedy literally killed someone. If I did this (especially in this state), I would be getting my ass kicked (if not raped) in Tent City right now.
I’m just trying to put things in perspective, I mean no disrespect. I’m a political moderate, but I also happen to be a registered democrat in Illinois.
So did Laura Bush, but you don’t hear people bringing that up every single time her name is mentioned.
They will when she dies. Because that’s just how America is. And I love it.
Not nearly as much. Fewer people are aware of what she did, because it happened before she was a public figure, whereas Teddy was (at least somewhat of) a public figure from the day he was born.
Also, since her husband is responsible for a few thousand dead Americans, Brits, Canadians, etc. and a few hundred thousand dead Iraqis (not to mention presiding over the biggest financial meltdown since the Depression), no one’s going to get too bent out of shape about one dead person. Just a drop in the well, really.
What Laura Bush (née Welch) did was reckless and she as only 17. She was not presumed to be drunk, nor did she wait till the next day to notify the police while her friends dead body lay in the road. How the hell anyone can compare these two situations is beyond reaching. It’s pure bull shit.
