Hi, everybody! Here’s a video of a new song of mine. It was shot in Red Hook, Brooklyn by the awesomely awesome Q.Ledbetter.

Name of the song is “Go Down to the Station.” It’s a murder ballad.

Make sure you pick 1080p from the “Change quality” button in the bottom right hand corner to get better video and sound.

On solid punch to the nose would black your eyes and as you hit the pavement you’d get a cut on a bald head. Not really that far fetched. Also, getting your ass handed to you by a kid does not absolve you from the responsibility of creating the hostile environment in the first place.

First off, Dirty Harry was not a vigilante. Dirty Harry was a homicide detective with (I think) the San Francisco Police Department. Idiots.

Also, how do you throw in Spiderman and Batman? Neither of them use a gun when they fight crime and 99.999% of the people they fight are super-villians…not your everyday scumbag. And comparing them to the KKK? I must have missed the issue where Spiderman and Batman went around lynching people or running for office as a Democrat.

You progressive liberal ‘journalists’ are a joke.

Also, re: Batman - His personal philosophy is to NOT kill. If he did he fears he would become as evil as those he fights.

I haven’t taken the time to verify this quote, but I think what this says is the reason why we are suddenly seeing such a big rise in “militant” atheism. The push to get extreme religion into politics has been very strong of late. People who otherwise would not care have been becoming vocal because a line is being crossed that should not be crossed. ~ Steve

Heres the thing people never seem to get. Atheism is a religion. It is the belief in nothing. But still a belief. They have no more right to demand the absence of Christianity or any other religion than we have the right to demand the absence of them. A militant atheist is no better than a militant Christian or Muslim. Get off your high horses people. You aren’t better than me because you believe in nothing. And if you attack my religion in the name of yours then i will shed your blood too. Im a militant Christian.

Atheism, my dear person, is not a belief; it is not a religion. It is the absence of belief in a god - the rejection of religion as the only basis for moral thought. It is as much a belief as not-sky-diving is a hobby. The separation of church and state is a rather passionate issue with me, as it was with our founding fathers. It may not be important to you, but it is extremely important to us. You are free to believe what you want to believe, but you are not allowed to impose those beliefs onto our government.

And atheists are not talking about blood. The have never, at any time, talked about blood. You are the one who brought up blood. The “militant” atheist is about justice, fairness, and equality, and will actively promote these ideals loudly and persistently. If you try to use blood in your effort to violate the U.S. Constitution, we would prefer that the law deal with you as the dangerous person that you are. We will not, however, back down from this fight simply because religious militants threaten us with violence.

Yes to what Steve had to say. @ noxlupus, “And if you attack my religion in the name of yours then i will shed your blood too,” proves you’ve not only missed the point of atheism, but Christianity as well. If you want to know how to deal with those who dispute your religion, you only need to look to your Bible.

These aren’t the ramblings of Paul, but actual words in red, ‘spoken’ by Jesus. We shouldn’t have to teach you about your Bible, but we’re more than capable of doing so. When militant atheists fight against legislation, Christians like you also benefit from it. If atheists didn’t fight to keep religion out of public schools, your children would have to allow Muslims to have times of prayer during the school day. Equal opportunity would have to be given to students of all religions and belief system. Religious education classes would be required to teach positively about all religions, not just Christianity. Religion does not equal Christianity.

The word militant may be where you encountered a problem. It does not always mean a call to arms, or a threat of violence, something that you seemed to miss. Militant atheists tend to fight with our minds. The bloodshed seems to be a religious thing. ~ Kim

Some Atlanta musical history: back in the early 90s, well before he became the more-talented, but largely-unknown rhythm guitarist/backup singer for John Mayer, the uber-talented David Ryan Harris was in a band called Follow For Now. They upstaged early 90s Pearl Jam at a Legion Field show, and were considered hands-down the best live act going. Then they went in the studio and had way too much of that energy toned-down, and there wasn’t a big market for a band that sounded somewhere between Living Colour and The Black Crowes.

But damn they were good.

I’ve always HATED this post. I’ve blogged about why I hate it before, but it wasn’t on my dash at the time. Now that I’m seeing it again, I’m even more offended by this. Where exactly are these people shopping? It is possible to make affordable home cooked meals, but this example is not representative of one, and more than a little insulting to those with a food budget. Eating well is expensive, there is no denying that. Of course grocers have sales and with coupons you may be able to save, but this is not always the case. This is what I had to say about this meme before:

The days of a mom sitting at home preparing meals while dad went out to work are long gone. Homes with both parents present usually see both of them having to work, single parent households are even less likely to have the time. The cost of feeding a family is something I never considered until I had my 11 year old nephew living with me for a few months. I only eat brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole grain breads, I buy seafood that’s sometimes $20+/lb, I don’t buy meat from supermarkets or places where it has more than 3 steps from the farm to meat seller. It’s expensive to eat the way I do and my family before my nephew consisted of only me and my boyfriend. I have the income to do this for me, but when you add a child to that my grocery bills were rivaling that of my mortgage. It is so much more economically sound for those who simply cannot afford it to grab a convenience meal. It’s fine to say how easy it is to eat well when you’re in financial position to afford to eat well.

I hate the pictures of KFC meals versus groceries with messages that say “You could feed you entire family a home cooked meal for the price of this bucket of chicken” or something to that effect. The reality is you may be able to, but what exactly are you feeding your family. Have you ever picked up a package of chicken and read the ingredients? Chicken should not have ingredients, it should simply be chicken, yet preservatives and hormones are in them, many not listed on the package as they are not required. Seafood, also a healthier choice has labels that read, “Previously frozen color added,” and are being sold as fresh. Apples and cucumbers are not supposed to be shiny and waxy. Tomatoes are not supposed to be flavorless. The $20.00 you spend in the supermarket buying ingredients aren’t exactly going to get you a meal if you got to organic, cage free, hormone free foods because they cost much more. So it may be possible to feed your family a home cooked meal, but what exactly are you feeding them?

I know there’s going to be the those who give me kick-back and point out that the way I eat is an exception, but I know that. The reason I highlighted the things I eat is to show that there is no cookie cutter meal plan. You can’t tell someone that they can better utilize their $20 when you don’t know their situation. You also can’t use such a poor example to make your point. Corn and sweet peas are full of sugar. There are no green beans, tomatoes, green leafy veggies, bell peppers, or any of the dozen of healthier, more expensive options. Sweet potatoes are a much healthier choice than white potatoes, but they cost more. And how are these items to be prepared and seasoned?

The bottom line is a home cooked meal is undeniably a healthier option, however don’t pretend that this is an actual valid cost comparison.

Well, right off the bat a huge error is that they list the chicken as $1.96 for 2 lbs of chicken… that is way off. Last time I shopped one3 package of breasts (approx. 1.5 lbs) cost around $6-7.00. I have no idea where you could possibly get chicken breasts that cheaply.
